Dapitanons in Illinois celebrated the feast of Saint James, the Greater (Señor Santiago) on Friday, July 25, 2008.

Dapitanons, Zanorteans and guests filled the Lone Tree Manor in Niles, Illinois where the celebrations started with a mass concelebrated by Reverend Fathers Manny Recera, Manny Duterte, Alan Lastimosa and  Nemesio Sayon.

Leo Cagbabanua delivered this year’s "Loa" in honor of the patron saint.

It was also the culmination and coronation of the fund raising efforts for the search of this year’s Queen. Ms. Edilberta Saldon-Bagalanon was crowned Miss Kinabayo 2008 by last year’s Hara, Tria Bustaliño. Runners up were Elnora Dalman Cabilin-Deloso and Deolfa Rondon-Cagbabanua.

Stephanie Luz Angela, Stephen Angelo and Francis Hanz T. Hamoy became full-pledged Catholics at their First Communion held at the Holy Family Chapel in Des Plaines, Illinois on Saturday, March 29. Attended by close friends and relatives the solemn rite was officiated by Fr. Manuel Duterte and assisted by Fr. Anthony Pizarro. The siblings are the children of Angie and Stephen Hamoy.
