After the outstanding board performance in June 2009 wherein DMC College Foundation’s College of Nursing produced a total of 92 student passers in the National Licensure Examination (NLE) for Nurses, DMC is at it yet again.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recently announced the result of this year’s Nursing Board Exam wherein out of the 94,462 nursing graduate takers, 37,527 passed including 96 students from the pioneer Nursing institution in Zamboanga del Norte, the DMC College Foundation. The school now boasts a total of 971 nurses all in all through the years who are now working here in the country and abroad.
“It is such with great pride that we welcome you all in the career and life of nurses. Believe me, this is more than just a mere profession, this is a calling, one that is considered as one of the greatest blessings of humanity, taking place beside the physician and the priest. Understand that caring is the true essence of our profession and accepting such is such soothing feeling. Remember, there’s this saying that goes something like this, ‘God appoints our graces to be nurses to other men’s weaknesses.’ So, in behalf of the DMC family, we are very proud of all of you and may we tend to the ailing and the weak for the rest of our lives,” DMC College of Nursing dean, Dr. Ma. Grace Gurdiel said.
DMC will announce in the following weeks the Thanksgiving Dinner and Testimonial for the new nurses from the school. The oath-taking ceremony of the nursing board exam passers will be on March 8 and 9 at the SMX Convention Center , SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City .
“The board exam is definitely one of the most difficult in the past years. However, with the acclaimed and globally-recognized Marlon Ray G. Labagnoy Review Center (MRLRC) to help prepare our students, we remain confident that we still and will give the best nursing education here in the province of Zanorte ,” Gurdiel added.
Dr. Gurdiel revealed that the MRLRC is a multi-awarded Nursing Review Center in the Philippines based in Baguio City . “MRLRC is currently considered by many in the nursing world as one of the best review centers in the Philippines . And with this partnership, we are hoping for further improvement in our performance and rating in the national board exams,” Gurdiel said.
The MRLRC, considered as one of the finest Review Centers in the whole South East Asia , was founded on July 28, 1989 at Poblacion East, Rosario in La Union. The review center started off as a caterer to the needs of nurses in review and training towards their dream of getting into the United States . The first batch of reviewees for the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) exam for US employment consisted of 20 nurses. Considering their small number, they were accommodated in the living room of Mr. Labagnoy’s house. With such homely atmosphere and personalized coaching, the passing rate of the said first batch was 100%.
The hype about such success grew and spread out that nurses from different parts of the country, and even as far as the Middle East started to flock in Baguio City . Year in, year out, the performance of the first batch would be replicated and the quality of the review center would be proven by the thousands of nurses who are deployed at various states of America .
The new nurses from DMC are Maria Clari-Ann L. Abera, Liezl Ada, Rezzel Jen O.
