“Architecture starts when you carefully put two bricks together. There it begins.”
- Mies va der Rohe
It is a far cry from the humble abode back home yet somehow this new mansion on the prairie is not lacking of the warmth and love that, like the first bricks originally built this family together.
This hideaway in the northwest Chicago suburbs share prime real estate with other sprawling residences in the 6-figure (and beyond) range. Its owners have spared no expense at upgrading this 8-room property to include a home theater and piano room. It even features a custom-built “dirty kitchen” in the basement fitted with a special exhaust system to make sure the cooks are free to whip up any Pinoy delicacy without worry.
Even as a work in progress (a new driveway and deck are still on the way), this not-so-little house on the prairie is already a veritable showcase of fine things yet evidence of restraint is everywhere. No garish furnishings, cool calm tones and carefully selected accents. Sweeping views of the big sky and greenery outside reminds one that this is not your typical corner lot.
Indeed this home has impeccable style yet it also speaks of deep religiosity, humility and quiet pride; a rarity these days and an inspiration to all.

It’s worthwhile to know that inspite of the real estate crisis the US is facing, there is still a ZaNorthean who defied such odds to be able to acquire this grandiose abode. Must be the fruit of hardwork. More blessings to the owner.

I had a grand time viewing. I got unspired by it and has given me the impetus to aspire for it,too. To Nonoy and Susie, I appreciate your outlook in life and as the other millionaires would say …Earn Hard and Play Hard.I Think You deserve it. To that, my cheers to you both…hep, hep hurray hep hep hurray.

Viola, the house on the prairie does not belong to Claude and Suzy, they have their own grand house in Illinois (another one in Ohio, where they currently reside) but the location is more upbeat, it is so accessible from all points in Illinois, much so that a lot of gatherings have been held at their house (including the Ambibo Anniversary). Claude and Suzy’s house is in the same area where the corporate office of McDonald’s is located. I am making this correction to let you know that there are other ZaNortheans in Illinois who owns huge homes, we have the Sygaco’s, Lagrimas Sorronda, also someone who lives in Aurora,I forgot her name, also Luigi and Lolit Camara, the Carreons,Alvin Ang owns a property in the Chicago Loop which is really expensive, Paul and Tatics Daarol, Luz Lariosa, Demet and Maryann Nazario,Remchile and Maryann Sienes, the Villanueva’s, the Pelegrino’s,Luis and Rosalyn(Sevilla) Reyes, have nice homes,Wilma(Gallemit)Lilly lives by the lake and owns a boat, the kind of boat that is used to tour guests, while enjoying the view down the lake, and younger ones like Ian Bajamunde, Elcyd and Alma Mallari, Cydel and Avon de Guzman and a lot more.

All I can say is WOW! It’s so grand and so tastefully decorated. And the fact that the owners did not want to publish their names speaks of their humility. A trait indeed so rare these days.
