Competition between schools cannot be denied especially if one institution provides the same courses like the other.
Here in Dipolog City, Saint Vincent’s College and The Dipolog Medical Center College Foundation are two schools directly competing with each other. I look at it this way. One school started to have the caregiving course. The other one followed. An I.T. Center was constructed; the other made its own. Even the students from both schools compare one from the other.
Now, the “school war” (as I call it, even if there is no actual declaration between the two), has taken another step and it is taking the battle to a terrain called advertising. As the tarpaulin above clearly shows, SVC is already stating the obvious; the offense is targeted towards DMC’s campaign of giving its students the opportunity to go abroad if one chooses to study in their school.
However, knowing the person behind the effective advertising campaign of DMC, I don’t think that he would respond to the kind of “retaliation” SVC is making.
I have nothing against SVC. I have high regard for the institution. The same with DMC, the school would not become what it is today if not because of its good track record. I just couldn’t help but notice these things being, one way or the other, a part of the local advertising industry.
