The initial meeting for the pioneering officers and members of Dipolognons In Southern California (DISC) was held at the Aliman residence in San Clemente, CA on December 23, 2007. It was attended by several Dipolognons from different areas of southern California. Some came from as far as Los Angeles, Glendale, and Riverside.
The formal meeting, (also the Christmas celebration) by the Alimans tackled issues like cultural sensitivity and interaction among our children while dealing with the pressures of growing up in America. Also discussed were how we can assist Dipolognons who have just arrived in California and lessen the impact of culture shock.
While there was no solid draft made as to the guidelines and principles to be followed, nevertheless members and officers were in agreement that more meetings (or parties) are needed to address the issue. Interim president of the association is Kerwin Acoymo R.N who was born and raised in the City of Dipolog. Vice president is Stephen Aliman, and secretary is Gilda Manglapus. Not to be forgotten is the unanimous vote among all members that Rene Ybanez shall be the prince charming of the association. The muse has not arrived from Dipolog yet ;-) and so everybody strongly agreed with a smile on their faces. The next meeting will be sometime in February.

Congrats to Michael “loloy” and Charina Saile as we welcome their new precious one with a cool baby shower held on February 10, 2008. We can’t wait to cuddle that adorable bundle of joy.
The second meeting for our association (DISC) was also held at the same time. More exciting developments as we finalized plans for our official website. New members also signed up.
Our next meeting will be held on March 23, 2008 Easter Sunday. The kids will have their easter egg hunt with surprise rewards, and a karaoke fest for the parents :-)

It is heartwarming to know that you are also celebrating your May fiesta, so are we here in Illinois. It will also be on the same day as yours, in honor of St.Vincent Ferrer at the Proesel Park in Linconwood. We have callers from other States who are coming to join us, the call last Thursday came from Edwin Mapa of New York, he is attending with his family. This is the 6Th year that we have been doing this celebration away from home and you will be amaze at how we are able to reconnect and renew friendship, meeting additions to families, and a lot more. To whoever would come across this email, I urge you to find time to attend, whether with the Southern Californians or with us in Illinois, what really matters is for us to be able to continue our tradition and just really be among one of our own.

I am no longer President of D.I.S.C (Dipolognons In Southern California), the new one is Justin U. Hamac. But because of his new position at work aka promotion…woot!! he is a little busy.
