From our friends at Hataw Pinoy:
“We are celebrating our 4th Anniversary on December 1, 2007 with a cultural presentation entitled “Amulaan Kaligaan – A Celebration of Thanksgiving and Good Harvest” featuring the music and dances of Southern Philippines. We are co-presenting this production with Kambayoka ARTS, Inc., a non-profit organization based in California which shares our goal of promoting Philippine culture and heritage. K-ARTS is an offshoot of the multi-awarded Sining Kambayoka Theater Ensemble based in Mindanao State University. We are staging this colorful production at the St. Scholastica Academy Auditorium located on 7416 N. Ridge in Chicago at 7 p.m.”

Sabi po nila “a journey of a lifetime begins with a single step.” Here is an example po: in our journey towards Filipino/Filipino American visibility and empowerment, a little step forward po for us through a positive story done about our own K-ARTS’ and Hataw Pinoy Chicago’s efforts to promote our culture and heritage over mainstream airwaves! Chicago Public Radio’s Blair Chavis reports about our workshop and the cultural event “Amulaan Kaligaan: A Celebration of Thanksgiving and Good Harvest” to be held at 7 pm on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the St. Scholastica Academy Auditorium (7416 N. Ridge, Chicago)! Our hope is that our own kababayans in the area will show an equal interest to presentation and support the event as the Chicago Public Radio has!

Candidates to Miss Zanorte-Illinois 2007 spent a night around town recently, chaperoned by Kesa Bajamunde from ZAMNAI.
“Our night began at W hotel‘s trendy restaurant Way. Pinoy Executive chef Kristine Subido and my long time friend was host. Wow! food was excellent. Then we headed and cruise along Michigan Avenue to the Buckingham Fountain in a stretch Hummer limo. Ended in a downtown night club/ lounge where the ladies danced all night to let off some pre-pageant steam. We all had a blast!!!”
